Laramie, Wyoming is perfect for students that enjoy the great outdoors. With mountains, rivers, lakes, and grasslands, University of Wyoming students can enjoy plenty of time outside. Hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, rock climbing, bicycling, and boating are all popular activities for students. If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, you can even find places that offer horseback riding or golfing. If you just want to spend a day communing with nature, you can visit the Medicine Bow National Forest, Thunder Basin National Grassland, or the Hutton Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
The University of Wyoming also sponsors museums on campus. For an educational experience, you can visit the Geological Museum and the Fine Art Museum. Other museums nearby include the Wyoming Territorial Prison Park and the Laramie Plains Museum.
Of course, college students like the nightlife, too. If you plan to be up all night, you can check out the Coal Creek Coffee Co. or Turtle Rock Coffee. The Buckhorn Bar is also a local college favorite, as well as Mingles, for a night of good beer and great music. Bud’s Bar is a local legend, and the bartenders there will keep you entertained with stories all night. For something a little more upscale, but not much, you can check out Library Sports Grille and Brewery. There really is something for everyone, no matter what your interests may be, and every college student will find his or her niche in Laramie.
