As most people know, college is a time to prepare for the future. Let’s not kid ourselves, though. College is also a time to let loose and have a little fun, especially when the studying and school activities get too intense. This is why most college towns have a healthy bar and nightclub community, and Laramie, Wyoming is no exception.
The University of Wyoming calls Laramie home, and the students frequent many of the hot spots in town. Depending on the kind of night you’re seeking, there is a bar or nightclub that can cater to your desires. Many of the bars and saloons in town are historic places that have been around since the Wild West. The college students keep that “wild” in the west, even today. Of course, there are also several modern establishments that serve cocktails with clever names, too.
For a night of beer and shooting pool, Mingles is a favorite. There is pub fare for those that need a bit to eat, and several bar-style games. Another favorite nightspot for students at the University of Wyoming is the Buckhorn Bar, which still has that Old West feel. There is even a bullet hole in the mirror above the bar, just in case it didn’t already feel authentic enough.
You can find dancing and live music, too. The Cowboy Saloon has a large dance floor and live music most nights, but you should be prepared for a bit of Country and Western music. If it’s rock bands that you seek, you can find those at Drawbridge’s Tavern, along with hundreds of other college students and dozens of different beers. If you don’t mind where you get your fun, then you could visit a different place every week and never get bored!
