Take a Trip to Medicine Bow National Forest

Laramie, Wyoming is within close proximity of some of the most beautiful sights in the country. One of the most popular places to visit when in Laramie is the Medicine Bow National Forest. The forest covers a wide range of topography and includes several different mountain ranges, such as the Gore Range, Flat Tops, Parks Range, Medicine Bow Mountains, Sierra Madre, and the Laramie Range. Thousands of people travel to Medicine Bow every year to see the wildlife and beautiful scenery.

The forest has several different uses, both for humans and animals. The land is a perfect wildlife habitat and also offers forage for livestock. It is also a vital source of lumber for domestic and industrial uses and supplies water for irrigation. Even with the many practical uses for the Medicine Bow National Forest, most people consider it a natural playground.

The Thunder Basin National Grassland is considered part of the Medicine Bow National Forest. It covers mountainous land that is perfect for hiking, sightseeing, hunting, and fishing. Camping is allowed, even though there are no developed campgrounds. You and your family can set up a tent and enjoy the beauty of the night sky as your ceiling as you sleep.

The forest and surrounding area is also perfect for many winter sports. Skiing and snowboarding are both quite popular at Medicine Bow. There are also eight mountain lakes where you can enjoy boating and water-skiing. Several bicycle paths crisscross the forest, making bicycling one of the most popular sports in the forest. You can even enjoy motorized travel through the forest, such as snowmobiles. Just be sure to plan for plenty of time at the Medicine Bow National Forest, or you will need to make more than one trip. There is too much to do to enjoy it all in one day.
