With so many things to do in downtown Laramie, Wyoming, you might never want to leave again. Of course, after you explore the town, you should really venture out for some of the most amazing scenery you will ever see, but the town itself should keep you busy enough for quite a while. No matter what you seek, you will find it in Laramie.
The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, and the student population really adds a whole new dimension to the city. In addition to traditional bars and saloons, you can find plenty of vibrant, trendy clubs and bars in the area. The Buckhorn Bar from the 1890’s is a huge local favorite, or you can check out The Library, which serves beer and not books.
The college doesn’t just pump up the nightlife, though. There are several museums affiliated with the University of Wyoming, including a geology museum and an art museum. If it is art that you’re looking for, you can find it right on campus at UW. Prexy’s Pasture is still home to sixteen granite and steel sculptures that were supposed to have been removed after the showing. They were so well received that the college decided to keep them indefinitely, and more will be added.
There is a great deal of history in Laramie, too. The city was once a part of the Wild West, and outlaws roamed the streets and scared even the lawmen. The old red-light district is now home to several trendy cafes and shops, though, and you can while away a whole day just roaming the stores and sampling the foods. The Coal Creek Coffee Co. and Sweet Melissa Vegetarian Café are two of the most popular places, but you will probably find your own favorites, too.
